Relationship Building: A Core Part of Edison
At Edison, relationship-building is a core part of their daily routines, from shaping policies based on community feedback to creating spaces for students, families, and staff to connect and support one another.

As one of the first schools in Erie County to adopt the Community School Model, Edison has had years to build a volunteer system that’s as intentional as it is impactful. And it shows.

In an effort to engage with families virtually, the team at Edison launched their first-ever virtual game night for families made possible with United Way of Erie County funding.

April is National Volunteer month. And, they say that nothing is stronger than the heart of a volunteer. As we all continue to navigate a new normal imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s been an inspiring, heartfelt response from people throughout our region who want to lend a hand. At United Way we are fortunate to have hundreds of volunteers that give back by choosing to volunteer through United Way's community schools partnership. Two of those volunteers are Deb and Ray Tackett who volunteer at Edison Elementary, a United Way community school whose corporate partner is Wabtec Corporation.
