Absolutely! United Way of Erie County (UWEC) is a local independent legal entity doing business in Erie County for the residents of Erie County. UWEC is governed by a local Board of Directors. The mission and work are driven locally with the goal of improving the community we all live in.

When you support UWEC, you are supporting the mission to crush poverty in Erie County. In partnership, we are leveling the playing field for low-income students and their families. Economically disadvantaged children face many barriers to learning and success in school...and ultimately in life. Together, with your help, we are breaking through these barriers, setting children and their families up for success.

United Way strictly adheres to stringent standards of accounting and financial reporting which govern the fiscal affairs of voluntary health and human service organizations. UWEC undergoes a rigorous annual audit by an independent accounting firm. The fiscal activities and reports are monitored throughout the year by the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee.
