United Way of Erie County’s Erie FREE Taxes program is in urgent need of community members interested in becoming IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers for the 2021 tax filing season.
Erie FREE Taxes tax preparation locations will continue to provide countywide service to eligible tax filers. Volunteer tax site assignments often occur within the volunteers’ own community.
The benefits of becoming a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteer are many. Volunteers gain valuable life-long experience, develop new skills, and contribute to making their neighborhoods and communities a better place to live.
Online IRS training is provided for free.
During tax preparation, precautions will be in place at each tax site to provide a safe environment for the VITA tax site, VITA volunteers, and tax filers.
