Once again, United Way Erie FREE Taxes will kick-off the tax filing season with free tax preparations at three different locations in the City of Erie. IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers will complete tax returns for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax filers at United Way’s Super Saturday EITC Awareness Kick-Off event on January 19, 2019. This event highlights the importance of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) in helping individuals and families to move towards financial stability and promotes United Way’s Erie FREE Taxes program (UnitedWayErie.org/ErieFreeTaxes). Tax filers with 2018 incomes of $55,000 or less will have their federal, state and local returns prepared for FREE.
