This year, the McKinley Community School Team and partners celebrated a major success with a long-time school family. After facing multiple hardships, including unstable housing, the family was connected to Safe Harbor case management and Erie County Care Management support through connection with McKinley’s Community School Director.
Through consistent communication, resource navigation, and financial planning assistance, the mother was approved for permanent supportive housing and moved into a safe, stable home with her children. For the first time in years, she has her own space and a zero balance on utility bills, an accomplishment that reflects her determination and the power of strong community partnerships. Today, the family continues to thrive, actively engaging with supports and making their new house a home. This success story is a testament to the importance of the Community School Model, helping Erie families build stability and hope for the future.
