I THINK I CAN, I THINK CAN

The Erie Playhouse Youtheatre PLAYtime project, in partnership with United Way of Erie County’s Imagination Library is happy to present FREE family-friendly performances of The Little Engine that Could. This is the first book all children enrolled in United Way’s Imagination Library receive when they enroll in the countywide early literacy program.

PLAYtime, funded by United Way of Erie County, was born as a result of inspiration from the Imagination Library and utilizes theatre, the arts, and the boundless creativity and imaginations of pre-school children aged 2-5 to make books come alive. PLAYtime is designed to help these children to enter Kindergarten with a love of books as well as the building blocks needed to become enthusiastic readers.

The performances are geared towards 3-5 year olds, but are enjoyable for all ages. Admission is free for the whole family, and as part of the “Parent and Me” program the Playhouse will offer a fun follow-up activity after the show, as well as a free book for all children in attendance.

The Imagination Library in Erie County is a countywide early literacy initiative of United Way. Each of the nearly 10,000 local children enrolled receives a new, age-appropriate book sent to their home each month until their fifth birthday. The program is offered to local families at no cost and is funded entirely by donations from United Way donors, corporations, grants and fundraisers in Erie County.
