Erie Insurance Giving Network Announces Educational Grant Opportunities

Wednesday Apr 14th, 2021

ERIE, Pennsylvania (April 12, 2021) – Erie Insurance is pleased to announce new grant opportunities available through the Erie Insurance Giving Network. These funds will serve to directly impact student success through supporting programs and out-of-school time activities in Erie, Pennsylvania.

“Erie Insurance has long been a supporter of lifelong learning, which is key to sustaining community and individual success,” said Ann Scott, community outreach manager for Erie Insurance. “We believe that the Investing in Our Future grant, paired with our community and economic development investments, will multiply efforts to create a more vibrant and inclusive community for generations to come.”

The new grant program supplements other related giving by Erie Insurance in its community, including investments made in the “adoption” of Pfeiffer Burleigh Elementary School nearly 35 years ago.

ERIE worked in collaboration with Erie’s Public Schools, United Way of Erie County and The Nonprofit Partnership to identify ways to support the educational success of students right here in the city ERIE calls home.  These efforts led to the creation of the Investing in Our Future grant program.

The goal of this grant is to select and invest in nonprofits that focus on school readiness and after-school activities so that they can better serve the community and improve educational success of children - our future.

Grants will be awarded from $25,000 to $150,000 and may be renewed for up to three years for those 501(c)3 nonprofits that serve students geographically located in the City of Erie. Projects focused on the alignment between core instructional programming and out-of-school time activities will be measured by the number of students participating in one or more clubs and the number of programs available after school and during the summer. Projects focused on school readiness will be measured by the number of home visits and orientations to new students within the Erie School District and the number of students testing on-grade level within the Erie School District at the beginning of the school year. The deadline for applications is May 10, 2021.
