2-1-1 Day on February 11 celebrates United Way's human service helpline

Friday Feb 8th, 2019

Monday, February 11 is PA 2-1-1 Day. This is a day to celebrate all of the life-changing ways United Way’s 2-1-1 helpline services the residents of Northwest Pennsylvania, and to encourage more to utilize the service available to them. United Way of Erie County, who administers the service for the Northwest PA region, will host an event for service providers at The Nonprofit Partnership from 9am - 11am on 2-1-1 Day. More information

2-1-1 information and referral service is the social service equivalent of 9-1-1. People in need of social services can dial 2-1-1 24/7/365 from a landline or cell phone and reach a trained, professional resource navigator who will listen to the caller’s concerns and provide information on the appropriate nonprofit(s) that can assist the caller with their need(s).

Individuals can also conduct their own searches for assistance at the website, pa211nw.org. They can also use the chat feature on the website or text their need and zip code to 898-211 to receive information by text.

Any Erie County resident in need can easily reach a resource navigator who can search for the right nonprofit agency and service from the hundreds available locally to address the caller’s needs.

2-1-1 takes the guesswork out of finding services by a quick, confidential call to the contact center or by conducting a search on the website.

2-1-1 service for Erie County was initially launched by United Way of Erie County in May 2017. Since launching the service, 12,158 contacts to 2-1-1 have been made in the Northwest PA region. Complete details on United Way’s 2-1-1 are available at UnitedWayErie.org/211.
