Erie FREE Taxes helps eligible low and moderate income wage-earners to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) by providing free tax preparation services through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).
The FamilyWize Prescription Discount card could lower the cost of medicine by an average of 35 percent. Since we first introduced the card in September 2013, over 5,490 Erie County residents have saved more than $850,000 dollars on their prescription medicines.
In December 2017, United Way's Board of Directors approved a restructured impact strategy as part of United Way’s 2015-2018 strategic plan. This plan is focused on reducing poverty by changing community conditions so many more people become and remain self-sufficient.
