United Way of Erie County spoke with Deanna McFarland, principal of Grover Cleveland Elementary, about her experience implementing the Community School Model at Grover Cleveland and the changes she has seen in school culture since becoming a community school.
Principal Deanna McFarland is an Erie native who graduated from Central High and received her M.Ed. from Mercer University. She joined Erie’s Public Schools in 2020 as a schoolwide specialist at Jefferson Elementary and become principal at Grover Cleveland Elementary in 2022.
