Students across Erie County started the new school year with cheers and words of encouragement from teachers, principals, community school directors, corporate and funding partners, Women United members and other volunteers during Red Carpet welcome back events held at community schools. Some schools rolled out an actual red carpet for students to walk down; others created chalk designs and messages of support for students to see as they arrived. By giving students a Red Carpet welcome on the first day of school, the community is encouraging children to succeed and demonstrating the importance of supporting education through collaboration.
