CLC 2017 Workers Memorial Program


On April 18, 2017, Erie-Crawford Central Labor Council held their 31st annual Workers' Memorial Day Program. Organized every year since 1986 by the AFL-CIO's Erie-Crawford Central Labor Council, the Workers' Memorial Day Service is both a somber recognition of those who have died and a reaffirmation of our collective responsibility to advocate for a safe work environment for everyone. In solidarity, Ron Oliver, AFL-CIO Community Service Labor Liason, United Way of Erie County.


3rd annual Veteran's breakfast 2016

In honor of all Veterans, United Way of Erie County, Erie-Crawford Central Labor Council, and HighMark joined together to host the 3rd Annual Veterans Breakfast on Sunday, November 6, 2016. Thanks to our sponsors, more than 250 veterans stopped by the Polish Falcons Club to be thanked for their service and served a delicious hot breakfast meal. Thanks to all the volunteers, ATU 568, Erie Firefighters Local 293, USW Local 3199, SEIU Local 668, Erie Education Association, AFSCME Local 8503, Sheet Metal Workers Local 12, AFSCME Local 2666, United Way Staff, CLC Board Members, UPMC Hamot, HighMark, Early Connections, RAACA, Gannon University Lambda Sigma, VVA Chapter 435, IBEW Local 56 and AFT 1589. A special thanks to Burton Funeral Homes for providing limo service for veterans and their families in need of transportation to today's 3rd Annual United Way, Erie-Crawford CLC, and HighMark Veterans Breakfast.


Labor/SECA Kickoff Dinner 2016

2016 Labor / SECA Kick-Off Dinner in support of United Way of Erie County 2016-17 campaign. Great turn out, thanks to all the union brothers and sisters who came out in full support. (230 strong) Big thanks to all of the elected officials, community partner, and guests. The speakers were outstanding, Jack Lee, Erie-Crawford Central Labor Council President, Janel Bonsell, United Way of Erie County Board Chairman, Colleen Metzler, United Way of Erie County 2016 Campaign Chair, Bill Jackson United Way of Erie County President, Ken Vybiral, PA Soldiers and Sailors Home...The "John David Dever Award " presented to UAW Local 1186. Live entertainment by " Mountain Thyme Ramblers ".

Representatives from United Way and organized labor visited the PA Soldiers' & Sailors' Home and VA Medical Center to dropped off check for $400 each. The money was raised with the help of presenting sponsor Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield during the 3rd Annual Veterans Breakfast held November 6 at the Polish Falcons Nest 610. L to R: Ron Oliver, United Way Vice President, Labor Division & AFL-CIOCommunity Service Labor Liaison, Ken Vybiral, PA Soldier's and Sailors Home Volunteer Resources Coordinator,  Jack Lee, President Erie Crawford Central Labor Council and United Way of Erie Board Member, and VA Medical Center Director John A. Soldiers and Sailors Home Volunteer Luncheon 


On Saturday, April 29, the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home held their annual Volunteers Luncheon. This is their way of paying tribute to the many individuals and organizations that provide needed volunteer services and support to our  veterans.I was invited to be the guest speaker, and was very honored to participate.There were over 150 volunteers and organizations that assisted and helped our veterans. 7th Annual MLK Dinner


The Martin Luther King Center held their 7th Annual Dr. King Awards Dinner themed, "Bringing the Dream Home: Connecting to Our Roots". Ron Oliver expressed  that he was very honored to receive the "Community Impact Award". Thanks to Organized Labor, United Way of Erie County, Gem City Lodge #328, Ozeil Temple #317, Community Leaders, Directors, Elected Officials, Law Enforcement, Firends, and Neighbors. Gem City Lodge #328 & Ozeil Temple #317

Gem City Lodge #328 and Ozeil Temple #317 held their 28th Annual Joint Community Awards Dinner on Saturday, November 5, 2016. The guest speaker for the evening was Bill Jackson, President/CPO for United Way of Erie County. Five Community awards were given out and over 180 people attended.
