POSITION AVAILABLE: PA 2-1-1 Northwest Database Coordinator

PA 2-1-1 Northwest is seeking a Database Coordinator. PA 2-1-1 Northwest is an exciting initiative that links twelve counties in the Northwestern PA region with easily accessible and accurate information about community services. 2-1-1 is a nationally recognized, easy to remember phone number that is currently available to most of the American public. The Database Coordinator will focus on ensuring that the data available for the project is up-to-date and accurate, is representative of all of the counties being served, and is in compliance with Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) and PA 2-1-1 standards. 

The Database Coordinator will be responsible for creating and publishing reports to share collected information with key stakeholders and community partners and will be expected to raise community awareness of 2-1-1 and promote collaboration at all times. This position will be located in one of the Northwestern PA county-coverage area: Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Forest, Jefferson, McKean, Potter, Venango, and Warren. The location would depend on the home county of the successful candidate. The Database Coordinator is expected to form relationships with and attend meetings with key agencies in the partner counties.


  • Maintain PA 2-1-1 Northwest database to AIRS and PA211 standards: includes adherence to standards and inclusion/exclusion criteria. Achieve a 100% annual update level.

  • Identify, research, and analyze information about community services for input into the database.

  • Support 2-1-1 Resource Navigators with research, information updates and technical assistance to ensure quality of service to callers.

  • Produce needed reports from the Visionlink database system.

  • Maintain professional relationship with all listed agencies, securing timely agency updates and maximum participation in the 2-1-1 system.

  • Participate in meetings of social service providers to make connections for 2-1-1 and to develop just in time information for call center staff.

  • Assign keywords and index terms so that public web searchers can easily find the information they need.

  • Ensure timely updates of resource database.

  • Successfully complete the Alliance of Information and Referral Services CRS (Certified Resource Specialist) certification exam within six months of being eligible to sit for the exam.

  • Work with regional data partners to ensure that database meets data standards.

  • Attend community awareness events

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience in indexing/abstracting or classification strongly preferred

  • Computer skills – must be extremely proficient in Excel, Word, and experienced with social media.

  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.

  • Detail oriented

  • A team player capable and willing to support all aspects and jobs required for a successful organization

  • Must have a passion for improving access to information.

  • Ability to manage priorities and to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Nonprofit work or volunteerexperience

  • Experience with databases

  • Knowledge of social service delivery system

About the Position:

This is a full-time, temporary position until June 30, 2017 with an opportunity for renewal. The successful candidate will be hired by a temporary employment agency and will work under the direction of PA 211 Southwest and PA 2-1-1 Northwest.
