United Way Success By 6 is a national initiative, administered locally by Early Connections. Success By 6 has been leading United Way of Erie County's Early Care and Education initiative for more than ten years! Success By 6 engages in community, family and school outreach opportunities locally and across the region to collectively address kindergarten readiness. The initiative consists of professionals working together to positively impact early childhood health, education and development.
Success By 6 promotes quality early learning opportunities for Erie County children. In Pennsylvania, approximately 60% of children under age 6 need some form of childcare as their parents work—the quality of this care impacts the quality of our future workforce. More than 6 out of 10 preschoolers in Head Start Supplemental, Keystone STARS 3 & 4, and Pre-K Counts programs ended the 2014-2015 school years with appropriate language, math and social skills.
Success By 6 supports school districts across Erie County, working with them to plan transition from childcare or home to Kindergarten. We work closely with Erie Together on the Kindergarten Readiness Team; and we are the Erie County LEARN (Pennsylvania’s Local Education and Resource Network) Coordinator.
This year’s FREE event is sponsored by United Way Success By 6, Early Connections and the Erie County Early Learning Professionals Association.
