IMPROVING PEOPLE'S HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Increasing access to critical healthcare services for seniors and families
- Reducing child abuse and domestic violence
- Increasing health education and preventative care
- Assisting people in crisis or with physical disabilities
A few examples of results-to-date:
- A total of 4,280 senior citizens received health assessments from the United Way-funded Health Promotion and Disease Management program at Erie Center on Health and Aging. Eighty-three percent reported positive changes in their diets, physical activity and medication compliance.
- My Father's House of Erie provided 180 days of transitional housing during its first six months of a modest level of funding by United Way's Women In Action. During this time, the clients maintained medical/psychological stability, demonstrated learning safety skills and principles and applied for and obtained affordable housing.
